Villa Selvatico was built at the end of the 15th century and is a typical example of the patrician residences of the time, when noble families used to spend their summer holidays in the countryside and oversee their agricultural estates.
The main structure follows a dual symmetrical layout, with two identical, tastefully designed façades. These façades are enhanced by arched entrances adorned with distinctive decorative mascarons. On the ground floor and the first floor, large central halls run from north to south, flanked by smaller rooms.
The history of Villa Selvatico da Porto
Initial restoration work was carried out at the Villa was completed in 1792, which is indicated on a plaque on the north façade, resulting in the current appearance of the complex. These renovations included the addition of a ‘barchessa’ (a large rural building), a ‘barco’ (an outbuilding) and a ‘limonaia’ (a lemon house), as well as other smaller agricultural outbuildings.
The Villa, which for a long period of time was owned by the aristocratic Selvatico family, has belonged to the da Porto family from Vicenza since 1951. Following meticulous renovation in recent years, the Villa now provides accommodation in 6 independent and fully equipped apartments, all surrounded by a large 3-hectare garden, which also features a lovely outdoor swimming pool that is operational during the summer season.
Villa Selvatico’s proximity to Padua and Venice makes it an ideal location for visitors interested in discovering the magnificent culture of the Veneto Region.
