Villa Marazzi is a magnificent 16th-century residence located in the historic village of Palazzo Pignano. There is a striking and imposing tower located in the main courtyard, while the Villa’s interiors boast grand frescoed rooms that infuse the entire building with a noble and romantic atmosphere. Outside, the spacious park adorned with centuries-old trees features a large swimming pool.
The history of Villa Marazzi
The architectural complex consists of an ancient tower and two large courtyards: one intended for agricultural use that is surrounded by rustic outbuildings, and the other a noble courtyard attached to the Villa itself. The tower is the oldest structure, its base dating back to the early 1400s. It was almost certainly built as a defensive structure to protect the seignory of Crema at the time. The Villa, on the other hand, was constructed in the 16th century, established as a holiday residence by Sermone Vimercati, who, upon his marriage to Ippolita Sanseverino, gave rise to the aristocratic Vimercati Sanseverino family (circa 1520). Over the course of the centuries, the Villa and its tower underwent several renovations and embellishments, while still preserving their original layout.
