In the open countryside halfway between Belluno and Feltre, Villa di Dussan, along with its outbuildings, is nestled within a large walled garden and offers a magnificent view of the Bellunesi Dolomites National Park. In its current form, the Villa dates back to the second half of the 18th century and results from the merger of several older manor houses. According to oral tradition, these houses were once the hub of a farm owned by the da Camino family, later inherited by the Norcen counts. When it became the property of Antonio Maresia, it was transformed and enhanced, notably by the design of the large ground-floor hall by architect Segusini and the commissioning of a ceiling painted by artist Pajetta from Ceneda. Senator Giuseppe Giacomo Alvisi, after whom the town square of Meano is named, was the subsequent owner, and he devoted particular attention to the garden, laying out avenues and flower beds, adorned with fountains and streams with water features. The Villa suffered severe damage during the First and Second World Wars, and after a fifty-year period of relative abandonment, it was restored between 1972 and 1973. Today, it is inhabited by the descendants of Senator Alvisi, who have recently undertaken significant maintenance and restoration works on the ancient village in conjunction with the surrounding farm and the attached agritourism.
