A historical residence for tourists, located in the hills of Valpolicella between Verona and Lake Garda, Villa Betteloni is an authentic 14th-century Venetian villa steeped in history. It has belonged to the Betteloni family since 1665 and was famously a meeting place in the past for men of letters and poets such as Cesare, Vittorio and Gianfranco Betteloni, and their friends Aleardo Aleardi and Giosuè Carducci. The Villa offers a beautiful 20,000 square metre park with a breath-taking view of Valpolicella, suitable for year-round stays due to the changing and captivating landscape. It is the ideal spot for anyone seeking a relaxing break immersed in the nature of the Park and, upon request, guests can consult the Library, which houses approximately 5,000 volumes. The property is surrounded by its “Brolo” orchard, which also contains 30,000 square metres of organically certified Valpolicella DOCG Classico vineyards.

The history of Villa Betteloni
Thanks to the rise of Venice’s “Serenissima Repubblica”, the Most Serene Republic of Venice, which brought peace and security to the surrounding countryside, the Villa was built in the hills of Castelrotto in the mid-14th century, intended as a modest country residence. It belonged for many generations to humanist Guarino Veronese and his family. It was then acquired by the Betteloni family in 1665 and, over the course of three centuries, it was enlarged and decorated with friezes and frescoes. A beautiful Italian garden with hedgerows (designed by Architect Guglielmo Guglielmi), avenues and tall trees was created. A poetic tradition flourished during the times of Cesare and Vittorio Betteloni in particular, and the family was proud to host their dear friend Aleardo Aleardi and the already famous Giosuè Carducci at the Villa.
