Originally built between 1517 and 1527 by architect Antonio da Sangallo the Elder at the behest of the Servite order (originally known as the Servants of Mary), the hotel was inspired by the adjacent Spedale dei Serviti, a Brunelleschi creation. Initially conceived to accommodate visiting prelates and serve as a gathering place, the Loggiato dei Serviti remained under the order’s ownership for nearly three centuries. In the latter half of the 19th century, following the dissolution of ecclesiastical properties, Loggiato dei Serviti was sold and transformed into a hotel in 1924.
