Palazzo Silva

Nestled in the heart of the historic centre of Gera di Pizzighettone, Palazzo Silva is an elegant and distinguished 18th-century residence. Its understated architecture is enhanced by the harmonious arrangement of its structures, beautifully framed by lush gardens.

Palazzo Silva has preserved its historical charm, surrounded by courtyards, gardens and a vegetable garden, creating an atmosphere that feels like stepping back in time. According to legend, even Napoleon Bonaparte is said to have spent a night here during the famous Battle of the Bridge of Lodi. Visitors will find ample parking both inside and outside the property, ensuring easy access and convenience.

Courtyard and garden
The first courtyard, approximately 200 square metres in size and paved with colourful cobblestones, features tables for hosting delightful lunches and refreshments. From here, you can enter the dining room and other rooms through French doors adorned with the founder’s initials. A charming portico leads to a larger courtyard, about 700 square metres, paved with gravel and surrounded by expansive green areas. Among these is a meticulously tended vegetable garden, personally cared for by one of the current residents of the Palazzo. Adding to the garden’s allure are two vintage carriages, offering a touch of historical elegance and enchantment to the setting.

Saddle room
Palazzo Silva boasts one of the few remaining intact saddle rooms in Italy, complete with an adjoining stable. The saddle room is fully preserved, featuring all the tack and accessories needed for riding, including a splendid collection of antique bits.

Stable
The order and precision that once characterised the stables are still evident today. Magnificently preserved in all its original splendour, the stable is ready to be visited or used for photo shoots, video shoots and other photographic services.

Kennel
Inside the Palazzo, it is possible to visit the renowned kennel for bracchi’ hunting dogs, commissioned by Cavalier Francesco Silva in the late 19th century. The Cavalier was one of the most influential and skilled figures in Italian and European canine history, particularly in the breeding of the Italian bracco. Silva founded the Regona breeding farm, named after the homonymous district of Pizzighettone in the province of Cremona. Part of this breeding facility was located within Palazzo Silva, the Cavalier’s residence.

This kennel was undoubtedly one of the most significant canine breeding facilities in Italy. Its architecture is unique: all the boxes, built in masonry, are spacious and feature a slightly raised floor with a lower area to keep the animals cool during the summer, and includes a small courtyard.
Numerous specimens born in the Regona kennel, such as the legendary Faust A and Tell IV, were depicted in illustrations and magazines of the time.

Historic kitchen
Inside the historic kitchen of Palazzo Silva, you’ll find a unique setting enriched with period furniture crafted by Luigi Guastalli, a famous Cremonese cabinetmaker, and a valuable collection of antique copperware. The kitchen has a large marble table, perfect for hosting lunches or dinners with the owners, where guests can sample traditional local recipes.

Dining room and Staircase
The 19th-century dining room of Palazzo Silva is a true treasure, full of charm and atmosphere. The wooden furniture, decorated with hunting motifs such as wild boars, hares and dogs, evokes a sense of tradition and adventure.

The carefully crafted details and artisanal furnishings create a warm and authentic ambiance. Dining here is an immersive culinary experience, enriched by the history and charm of Palazzo Silva.
Every element of the dining room tells a unique story, making each meal a memorable and special moment, infused with the spirit of hunting and discovery that permeates the Palazzo.

Pizzighettone and the surrounding area
Palazzo Silva is located in Pizzighettone, a picturesque village in the province of Cremona, along the Adda River. Just 20 km from Cremona and 60 km from Milan, Pizzighettone is a rare example of military architecture with an intact Renaissance defensive wall. These historic walls, with their Casematte, now host various events and exhibitions. Pizzighettone’s origins date back to the ancient city of Acerra, with a history of conquests and reconstructions from the Romans to the Gauls. It became a commercial centre and was contested between Milan and Cremona. Major transformations occurred under Spanish rule in the 16th century.

Today, Pizzighettone attracts tourists with its cultural events and historical reenactments, as well as offering welcoming hotels and restaurants serving traditional cuisine.

Nearby Cremona, just 20 km away, is home to the Violin Museumluthier workshops, the Cathedral and the famous Torrazzo bell tower.
